Walking Through History
It’s been a couple of years since I was in grad school and spent serious time in the city, but I still get a feeling of walking through the pages of my American History textbook as we go through Lexington and Concord, past sights such as the Old South Meeting House, Boston Common and Beacon Hill.
Makes me think again about a side project I really want to begin researching at some time — the role colonial taverns played during the lead-up to the Revolutionary War. Could make for an interesting book (and lots of fun “research”).
Spending a good deal of time in Somerville, however, we avoided the taverns and hit up Redbones BBQ for lunch — not a colonial tavern, but still a modern-day southern oasis.
