Clinton to Be Obama’s Healthcare Czar?

London’s Daily Telegraph is reporting that Sen. Barack Obama may offer the Secretary of Health and Human Services post to Sen. Hillary Clinton in exchange for her graceful withdrawal from the presidential campaign.

Obama’s camp won’t confirm or deny the report, but has dropped hints throughout the past week.

“One of my heroes is Abraham Lincoln,” Obama said earlier this week. “Lincoln basically pulled in all the people who had been running against him into his cabinet because whatever personal feelings there were, the issue was ‘how can we get this country through this time of crisis?’ And I think that has to be the approach that one takes.”

Clinton certainly has the knowledge and experience to be a tremendous HHS secretary–giving her a platform to continue her fight for healthcare reform (and hopefully a universal mandate too).

Add in Joe Biden as Secretary of State and John Edwards as Attorney General and Obama has a quite a cabinet already… though keeping Clinton in the Senate to lead the Democratic lawmakers there also sounds like a strong option.

As long as she’s not VP…
